Introduction

Welcome!

I am a third-year Economics major at Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), and a former visiting student at the Department of Economics at Dartmouth College.

I am also a Fellow in the Macroeconomics seminar group at the Economic Society for Bocconi Students, as well as a Policy Analyst for European Generation.

With respect to my short- and medium-term goals, I intend to pursue further studies through a MSc and gain some working experience, perhaps as a Junior Analyst in the financial services sector or as a Research Assistant at a supranational or an academic institution.

11/2024: Effects of the Minimum Wage à la Card and Krueger (1994)

As a final assignment for my Econometrics course at Dartmouth, I was tasked with conducting an independent and original analysis using a difference-in-differences (DiD) approach. The intention was to study the effects of a 2017 change in minimum wage policies by comparing outcomes for the states of Main and New Hampshire both in terms of wages and hours worked per week, in the style of a now-seminal paper by Alan Card and David Krueger.

By focusing my attention on workers with low levels of education — i.e. those more likely to be impacted by the policy change — no significant effect on either variable is observed. During this project, I had the chance to make extensive use of the statistical software Stata, and obtained precious insights into the specificities and the challenges associated with conducting research.

4–6/2024: Research Field Project with Prof. Anna Gibert Rivas

Between April and July 2024, I was involved with Prof. Anna Gibert Rivas (Department of Economics, Bocconi University) on a project titled "Diversity in Venture Capital Firms," whose aim is to investigate the impact of diversity within venture capital firms on investment outcomes.

I first worked with an existing dataset containing detailed information on venture capital operations (funding rounds) and the executives managing the start-ups receiving the funds. To test our hypotheses, I conducted a regression analysis of a diversity index related to investment results and attempted to explain the empirical findings. This culminated with the drafting of a manuscript that presented the provisional research outcomes.

8–10/2023: Consulting Report for ICS Maugeri S.p.A. SB (IT only)

During the late summer of 2023, I volunteered to provide basic consulting services to the for-benefit corporation (”società benefit”) ICS Maugeri. ICSM is a leading Italian health provider, and has faced tremendous difficulties cooperating with non-profit patients’ associations in its clinics ever since the COVID-19 pandemic. My work, conducted alongside a colleague, provided the firm with crucial information regarding the status of these collaborations through two comprehensive surveys. Furthermore, we leveraged this knowledge by creating a sample contract to be used in the establishment of future collaboration agreements; suggestions for such collaborations were also included.

4/2023: Semi-Finalist Policy Brief for the futurEU Competition

The futurEU Competition is a platform that encourages students of the CIVICA alliance to actively devise and put forward policy ideas to reform the European Union. Alongside two colleagues, we drafted a 1500-word proposal regarding an EU-backed mechanism to channel more funds towards green and sustainable projects in the equity market. Having been selected as one of 7 among 104 participating teams, we were flown to Berlin to present our proposal to a panel of Policy Fellows from the Hertie School’s Jacques Delors Center.
